TGIF 2026

If you are coming here from the QR code in my presentation at TGIF this year, welcome! If not, also welcome!

If you missed my presentation, I focused on examining specific-level diversity in two amphipod taxa in the state, one hypogean (Parabogidiellidae) and one epigean (Hyalellidae). Results of both analyses indicated high-levels of undescribed diversity, and interesting biogeographic patterns. Results of both analysis are currently being written up in a set of manuscripts, so keep an eye out for manuscripts on these topics out soon!

Below, please find both static images and an interactive map detailing freshwater amphipod distributions in Texas. Maps are based on published records for species and data generated for this presentation. In the interactive map data is partitioned out into layers, with a layers for epigean taxa, hypogean taxa, and finally one for the Hyalella examined towards the end of this presentation.

Map of Texas, detailing the putative Hyalella species identified here. As well as new records for described Hyalella spp. in the state. ā€œXsā€ indicate populations identified only to genus.
